Day Camp

Stillbrook Riding Stables offers a very unique opportunity for children wanting to experience the wonderful world of horses in a safe and interactive environment.

Day camp programs are available for Christmas, March Break and all Summer long!

We book by the week, but will also book by the day if that works better for your schedule. Many children find riding for a full week too much if they are an inexperienced rider, so we offer a wide range of horse related activities.

If your child is fit and outdoorsy then a full week at camp is a very rewarding experience. Parents may choose whatever works best for your lifestyle.

Driving at Stillbrook Riding Stables

We offer driving lessons both single (horse and buggy); and a team of horses pulling a wagon.

We also offer specialized camp days:  At the first of the week the riders are asked which additional activities they would like to do and we try our best to fit them into our day or if the weather does not allow for a trail ride, we do another horse activity in the arena that day. These include, Halloween in July and August, Let's Get Ready to Show (learning to braid, etc.), Horse Training  - free jumping horses in arena, driving the horse and buggy, and driving a team of horses.

At Stillbrook, children ride approximately three hours a day.

Lets Get Ready to Show

For a week in July and a week in August we offer a special camp called "Let's get Ready to Show."

We teach the riders not only the skills needed to show but all the preparation techniques that are used to have an edge over the competition.

Young riders have to learn the art of showing somewhere. Here at Stillbrook Riding Stables, we are dedicated to giving them the best start possible!

Demonstrations are done on braiding manes, braiding tails, clipping, bathing and other special things that can make your horse stand out at a show. Riders learn about show safety, things to take to a show, and how nerves can play a part in the success of your showing.

We practice for the classes that students have a keen interest to show in; and match each individual with a suitable mount.

Various skills are enhanced in the areas of Showmanship, Equitation, Flat and Hunter/Jumper classes.

On the Friday of the show camp week each student is responsible for their own presentation, as well as their horse's, while they partake in a closed show with family and friends supporting them.

The hired judge is asked to take into account that this is some of the participants first attempt at showing and presentation was done by the participant alone. I hope you can see by these pictures the desire these children have to do their best.

Hunter/Jumper Day Camp

Stillbrook Riding Stables offers a unique opportunity for children wanting to experience the finer points of showing in Hunter/Jumper classes.

Jump for Joy at Stillbrook Riding Stables

Throughout the year we have specialized camps where we focus on riding a good line in hunter class; how to get correct distances to your fences; and how to get correct leads over fences.

Other camps focus on grid work, teaching discipline for both horse & rider.

These exercises teach horses & riders to not rush fences, but to remain smooth & consistent.

Riders for the Hunter/Jumper camps may bring their own horse or use one of our horses.  At Stillbrook Stables our school horses are very versatile.  They do trails, lessons and are also our show horses.

"You'll Jump for Joy when you ride at Stillbrook!"

Stillbrook Riding Stables Summer Day Camp Swim

Riders attending a beginner hunter/jumper camp need to be able to walk/trot and canter comfortably. Experience over cross rails is a bonus but not necessary.

Riders attending our advanced hunter/jumper camps need to be capable of walk/trot/canter and also have a knowledge of leads, and be comfortable jumping a 2 foot course.

Dates for these camps will be posted in May each year.
