Stillbrook is proud to offer not only “in-house” competitions, but two additional levels of competitive show teams.
SRS RUBY TEAM: Local “grassroots” level competitions are the first stepping-stone from recreational Riding-School participation to Provincial level competition. The SRS Ruby (or local) Team attends many different hunter-jumper and combined test competitions hosted at other local farms and venues, as well as several fall fairs. Students competing at the local level gain valuable experience and practice applying their skills in friendly competition environments. We stress safety, responsibility, and having fun as students are introduced to competition! The lesson program intensifies at the level as coaches and students work towards achieving personal goals and improving one’s mastery of the foundational riding and horsemanship skills. Whether you have your own horse you would like to show or get your first taste of competition on one of our tried-and-true schoolmasters, you will be surrounded by supportive teammates, will learn a lot, and will have a blast!
SRS SILVER TEAM: Provincial level competition opportunities are offered at some of the most amazing equestrian venues in Ontario, including national and international facilities! SRS offers a unique hands-on provincial showing experience that stresses horsemanship, sportsmanship, rider responsibility, and teamwork while enjoying great success at the provincial (bronze and silver rated) level.
Silver team riders are expected to participate in all aspects of competitive horse development and care. They will be involved in developing conditioning programs (with guidance from our Competition Coach Alana) for their horse, and actively participate in before and after care, husbandry, shipping, feeding, show preparation leading up to and during events, and create active plans to attain their riding goals. They will learn skills such as lunging, bandaging, braiding, clipping, trailer loading, equine nutrition, and much more! Our Silver athletes are expected to participate in fitness training and maintain healthy balanced diets. Guidance and monitoring from our competition coach is available ever step of the way. Join our Silver team on your own horse or part-board or full-lease one of our experienced show horses to show you the ropes. We welcome young or green horses as well as advanced level horses and riders. If you are looking for a fun, supportive, and encouraging riding experience where personal achievements are celebrated, this is the team for you!
HIGHLIGHTS FROM 2020:
The Stillbrook Schooling Series was formed in 2013, as a means for our up & coming riders to learn about showing in a less stressful atmosphere. Since its inception, the series has grown each season, with the decision to open entries up to outside riders in 2016. With a strong focus on maintaining a friendly & inviting atmosphere, the Stillbrook Schooling Series offers a great showing experience to any horse or rider.
With four shows throughout the season, riders can accumulate points for Year-End titles & awards. Our generous sponsors allow for great prizes throughout the season & at our Annual Awards Banquet.
Offering a large outdoor arena with quality fences, professional judges & photographers, an on-site cookhouse & ample room for trailers, be sure to schedule us into your show season!
